The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is an organization of appraisal professionals and others interested in the appraisal profession. International in structure, ASA is the oldest and only major appraisal organization representing all of the disciplines of appraisal specialists. The society originated in 1936 and is headquartered in the metropolitan Washington, D.C., area.

The National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. NACVA members work in careers that provide valuation and litigation services, including mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and bankruptcy. The NACVA also provides accreditations of Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA), Certified Forensic Financial Analyst (CFFA) and Certified Fraud Deterrence Analyst (CFD).

The Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA) is the oldest professional society devoted solely to the appraisal of closely-held businesses. Established in 1978, the Institute is a pioneer in business appraisal education and professional accreditation.

Created by statute in 1901, the California Board of Accountancy’s legal mandate is to regulate the accounting profession for the public interest by establishing and maintaining entry standards of qualification and conduct within the accounting profession, primarily through its authority to license.

The Houston and Business Estate Planning Council is an interdisciplinary organization for professionals involved in estate planning.
The Houston Business and Estate Planning Council strives to foster understanding of the proper relationship between the functions of the Life Underwriter, Trust Officer, Attorney, Accountant, and any other party or parties having to do with estate planning, and to encourage co-operation of persons acting under those disciplines.
